Gajdosova fights back, Dellacqua out

AUSTRALIAN Jarmila Gajdosova fought back from a set down to win her opening-round match, but compatriot Casey Dellacqua was bundled out in straight sets at the Indian Wells tournament in California yesterday.

Russia's Elena Vesnina beat Dellacqua 6-4 7-5, after the Aussie showed some resistance in the second set.

Gajdosova dropped the first set to American Coco Vandeweghe but recovered to post a 4-6 6-3 6-3 win.

It was Gajdosova's fifth victory from 11 matches this season and she will play Belgian 22nd seed Yanina Wickmayer in the second round.

Jelena Dokic was due on court at 6am (AEDT) this morning for her first-round match against Argentine Gisela Dulko. Sam Stosur has a first-round bye.
